History of Parent Services Center, Inc.

Parent Services Center, Inc. was founded in 1988 by Judy Grindstaff and Susan Donaldson after receiving a startup grant from Children's Trust of Texas.

The agency has received a number of special honors including recognition as an exemplary program, 2005 "Educator of the Year", and a "Best of Texas" Award.

The first year over 1000 people attended parenting classes.  In 2010 attendance was 2,246 parents.

Also provided are support groups, information and referral services, a family resource library, and Parenting Puzzle articles in the newspaper. An annual conference brings in nationally known speakers on a variety of patenting topics.

The addition of Jana M. Sisk, LCSW, as the new Executive Director in the summer of 2003 brought about the opportunity for continued leadership, growth and opportunities to creatively meet the needs of the community in a fresh, new way.

In 2010, Shelley Judd, B.A., M.S. became Executive Director. She has focused on providing parenting classes in Spanish; establishing a signature fundraiser; offering training at Salvation Army, the Tyler Public Library, First Christian Church, the YMCA and other off-site locations.

In 2011 we expanded our Autism Network with the addition of Julee Renfroe, R.N., Autism Parent Educator.
